New York Comic Con has wild turnouts every year, this year being one of the largest. Just like any other large event, tickets sell quick. While ticket sales are good, the majority of tickets sold end up being resold or scalped. New York Comic Con wanted to try and root out the people trying to exploit the event by implementing the new process of "Fan Verification. From the New York Comic Con Website:
"In 2016, it was announced that everyone attending NYCC 2016 would be required to complete a "Fan Verification" profile. The event organizers explained that this step was implemented in an attempt to reduce the amount of scalpers and resellers who purchase tickets. Fan Verification would only be open from May 20 - June 14, and tickets purchased could only be assigned to someone with a profile. It was also announced that NYCC would no longer be selling VIP tickets, and that show tickets would not be sold at any retailers or events leading up to NYCC 2016"
Furthermore, tickets were being sold at the door. While some were waiting for hours as a long line wrapped around the building, others were waltzing in excited to see what this year's event had to offer!
Most noteworthy, the 2015 New York Comic Con attracted over 167,000 attendees. Furthermore, the year of 2016 yielded an estimated 180,000! This is a statistical fact that the New York Comic Con is easily the largest Comic gathering in the country!
